Merry Christmas!Yesterday my daughter had her little friend over to play, he’s the little neighbor boy from just down the street.  I was trying to get some work done while they played, and I guess I got a little caught up in it and wasn’t paying enough attention to what the kids were doing.

When we put up our Christmas decorations, we put a small two foot or so fiber optic tree on a plant stand in front our of dining room windows.  We decorated the tree with a bunch of different colored candy canes, and some gold beads.  The neat thing about the tree is that it spins, when it’s turned on it continuously rotates while changing colors.  My daughter finds this fascinating, and often spends quite a while just watching it spin.

That’s what I thought the kids were doing yesterday, because they were over by it and actually being quiet.  It turns out I was wrong.  They weren’t just watching it spin, they were tasting each of the candycanes on it, unpeeling a small spot at the bottom and licking them, trying to find the flavors they wanted.

I didn’t notice until last night when setting the table for supper that that’s what they had done.  My daughter didn’t even lie about it when I asked her, she just flat out admitted it.  Well, at least there’s that!

I couldn’t even discipline her, because that’s something I would have done when I was her age.  I used to take a toothpick and shove it in the bottom of each piece in boxes of assorted chocolates, just to find the ones I liked best.

Yes, she’s nothing in not honest! Unfortunately, in the last few days she has admitted to coloring her gameboy with a permanent marker, coloring her desk chair with crayons and writing her name on every door in the house.

Sometimes she makes me want to scream! But she’s my little angel anyway!
