Silly Mom

“Silly Mom, pots are for corn, pans are shallow and have a handle.”

is what my daughter just said to me, when I asked her to get the big pan out of the cupboard to cook the fresh corn on the cob we just picked from our garden.  Apparently my six year old knows the difference between pots and pans, yet her father can hardly tell the difference between spoons and forks.

I asked him to pick up some items at the grocery store on his way home, the list included powdered sugar and brown sugar.  He came home with brown sugar and two five pound sacks of regular sugar.  His innocent reply – it looks like powder to me.

The corn looks great. Watch out he is not playing dumb. Men are notorious for doing it wrong. This way you won’t ask again.
    Have a good day.

He’s not usually like that, as he does a lot of the grocery shopping around here, simply because he works in town, just two minutes from the grocery store, and I work from home, half an hour from any town. Thanks for stopping by!

Men….gotta love em! My ex-husband NEVER could find anything I sent him to the grocery store for. Maybe that’s why he’s my ex…(wink).

That would be reason enough for me to make someone my ex! As for my ex, I’m not even sure he knew where the grocery store was, he probably still doesn’t! Thanks for stopping by!

Lately, we’ve been roasting our corn. Like our grandparents did.

We do that in the fire – but only when we eat outside – too messy for the house! Thanks for stopping by!

I have to agree with Grampy. Isn’t that the more optimistic view?

The alternative is: My husband doesn’t bother to listen to me.

    We’ll go with number one.

    Enjoyed it.

Optimism is always a good thing, but usually my hubby’s not like that, he actually likes to shop! Thanks for stopping by!

Grampy may be right but I also think that if it’s not something that’s part of their life they don’t worry about remembering it. I have a couple of male friends who are chefs and they can tell power from granulated sugar. Sounds like you should be able to get money to do a study :)

Hmm, maybe I’ll have to look into that! He’s also the one who bought the garlic flavored cooking spray that ended up in the blueberry muffins… *sigh* I would have thought after that yucky incident that he would have learned his lesson! Thanks for stopping by!

you’re so lucky to have corn in your backyard! :)

men are just like that, maybe that’s a sign that if we ever have boys, we should teach them better. once i sent an ex bf on a quest for cabbage – i got lettuce instead.

I have to admit, I love having the garden, and herb garden – everything tastes so much better fresh, and even better when you know that you grew it yourself!

Yes, men are like that… They refuse to learn anything they don’t want to know! My fourteen year old son refuses to learn how to use the home phone, he can’t remember that you have to hit the talk button BEFORE you dial…

      Thanks for stopping by!

LOL, from the mouths of babes. Corn looks good, though I can no longer eat it, dang. Have you tried it on the grill? It has a fabulous taste, different and fun for the kids. Only partially clean the corn, open enough to put a little spray of water inside, wrap again with husk (remove silk at the end), and put on the grill. Takes only moments and is fantastic.

Peal it but wrap the husk around the bottom for something to hold onto while eatting. Kids really get a kick out of doing it this way. You really don’t even need butter or salt because there’s so much more flavor.

Actually, our gas grill bit the dust, it blew off the front porch from the heavy winds we get here, one too many times. But we have often cooked the corn in it’s husks around the fire pit (our new way of grilling, as it can’t blow away) quite often and love it that way – as long as we’re eating outside – as it’s sooo messy that way. Thanks for stopping by!

Men are so frustrating! I swear they do that on purpose so we don’t ask them to do it again. I seriously don’t understand how these people lived on their own before they got married. They must have been completely lost!

I agree – but my hubby never really lived alone, he always had at least a roommate. Of course when I met him he was living in his mother’s basement… ;) Thanks for stopping by!

Well, actually, you can pulverize those granulated sugar to turn it to powder. That’s not a very good excuse for what dad did though… And that I know you’re not that ’silly’ to even think about doing such. :D
