Efficiency has come a long way in service oriented offices since I was young. For my family going to the dentist was an all day affair, with all five family members going together. The dental office was in an old trailer, and had only three employees, the dentist, his assistant and an elderly receptionist. The dentist did all the work himself, from the cleanings, to the cavities, to pulling teeth, and he did it all in the same appointment. If he found a cavity cialis soft tabs cheap buy prescription drugs online without a prescription while he was doing your cleaning, he filled it right then and there, usually with out Novocaine. Which meant a very long day of sitting around the very cold (no matter the season) waiting room, bundled up in sweaters and a whole day off of school.
My children and I still schedule our cleanings all on the same day, hubby gets special working guy Saturday appointments, but it’s not the ordeal it was when I was young. The dental office has become such an efficient place that it takes less than an hour from the time we walk in the door. There are now at least five dental hygienists who do the cleanings, quickly and efficiently, and each has their own room, so you can all get worked on at once if you want, of course we have a favorite hygienist, so we all wait and get done by her. If cavities are found, you make another appointment to have those fixed, by the dentist himself, who is very generous with the Novocaine and pain killers. It’s so much nicer now, to get in and out of there so quickly and not in pain!

I love your son’s description of the 80′s and the 90′s. He is so right and funny at the same time. I agree it is worth the wait for a favorite hygienist. They make or break a dentist visit. My current one is so good, and funny, I almost forget that she is cleaning my teeth!

They sure do! I wish I could find one who actually made me forget what they’re doing – but I’m not going to hold my breath. I hate going to the dentist for anything. But at least now it’s quick and at least less painful!
