My husband’s laptop shares a desk with both my desktop and my laptop, last week as he was sitting at my desk with a cup of coffee, he spilled it. Luckily, none got on the desk. Unluckily, it scalded his crotch, which caused him to whip the coffee mug across the kitchen, shattering it and scaring the dogs in the process.
My part in this was that I yelled at him for half an hour about having his damn coffee on the desk with all my electronics.
Karma – it sucks!
This morning, I sat an almost empty glass of chocolate milk on the corner of my desk while I went to get a hairbrush for my daughter’s hair. The dog jumped up and knocked the glass over while I was online pharmacy out of the room, and my daughter neglected to tell me about it.
The glass spilled right onto his laptop.
That wouldn’t have been bad, but he had forgotten to shut down the laptop, by the time I realized what had happened – a good twenty minutes or so after it happened – the laptop no longer had any lights on.
I know, I’m an ass! I just lectured him on this very thing last week, and I’m the one to break his computer…
I fear he’s going to hide my body in one of the stainless steel drums he got to make a barrell stove out of for his workshop…
If you don’t hear from me tomorrow – bring the metal detector and check my backyard…
Or maybe I should just run away now…

I hope it comes back! Good luck. Sometimes, computers will come back once they dry out a little. My daughter did that with ginger ale on my husband’s laptop, and it did come back once it dried.
I dreamed that it turned right back on, but when I tried it this morning – nothing, not even the light that’s always on when it’s plugged into the charger. I think it’s really dead… I handed over my laptop this morning until I can replace his. He was actually quite pleased because mine’s newer and much faster than his.
It probably would have worked again if I had caught the spill right away – but I didn’t…
Hi, Leigh… I noticed that you stopped by my blog and thought I’d return the favor. Reading this piece I thought of a piece I wrote called “Hindsight is the booby prize…” I think you might relate.

I always visit sites that visit me, but I’ve stayed here and looked around a lot longer than I usually do. Your blog and writing have a really nice vibe. I will definitely be back.
Merry Christmas, Jayne

That is a good one Jayne (Hindsight is The Booby Prize), I’ve often wondered too why life doesn’t come with a manual. My list of warnings would make it a very thick book!
I’m glad you like what you’ve found! I too enjoyed your site and have already added it to my RSS!
