I miss youWell, it’s finally over.  The holidays, the school break, the screwed up work weeks, and having to worry about my horrible mother in law!  (It’ll be another six months before we hear from her again if we’re lucky, she only calls during the holidays and if she wants something.)  The house is put back to order, the decorations all packed away until next year.

The house is so quiet and empty today that I can hardly stand it.  No kids arguing, no game consoles and their crappy music, and no dogs barking because my daughter is chasing them.  I miss it!

I miss having the kids home.  I miss the noise, confusion and fighting that having them around brings.  I miss being interrupted every five minutes by my daughter just wanting me to come look at something. I’ve always said, I work best under pressure, and with my kids around I seem to get more done sometimes.

The silence is quite eerie after two weeks of chaos.  The only sound in the house is my computers, the sound of me typing, and of course, the jack russell snoring on my lap.

How many days until summer vacation?  Hmmm….  I’m sure my son would know.  He was no so anxious to head back to school this morning, of course, he’s a teenager, and what teenager will admit to liking school?  My daughter on the other hand couldn’t wait.  She woke me up this morning instead of the other way around.  She couldn’t wait to go back and see her friends again, not to mention her teacher.

My older sister had been counting down the days until her oldest daughter went back to school.  She couldn’t wait.  Am I strange for liking to have my kids around all the time?
