So once again according to Keely, it’s time for the customary Tuesday randomness – the after Christmas edition!
Months spent preparing, and it’s over in a day… But isn’t that the fun of Christmas – the anticipation?
So the holidays went well for us. The kids enjoyed their gifts, at least when they opened them. Yesterday, despite all the new stuff acquired on Christmas, all I heard was “Mom, I’m bored.” Amazingly enough though, when I start to find them things to do, such as cleaning the kitchen, or sweeping the house – they suddenly find ways to entertain themselves.
Hubby got a box of Avo cigars from his dad for Christmas, and he smoked one in the house. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get the cigar smell out. Any helpful tips? It’s not that I hate the smell, it’s actually pretty good for a cigar – it’s just that I don’t want to smell it all the time.
We got our son a cell phone for Christmas – he now texts me from his bedroom. Talk about laziness. So last night, instead of yelling at him that supper was ready, I texted it to him. He didn’t hear his phone bleep, and so didn’t come out until we were nearly through eating.

Kind of reminds me of when my wife and I are both on Facebook and are commenting back and forth while in the same room. Sometimes you wish that certain texts could come with custom rings. That way when you text DINNER it rings like those iron rings they clang in the back woods.
Thanks for your randomness,

That would be really nice, if you could make certain texts ring in different, then maybe he’d know not to ignores any text from mom!
Texting is definitely big around here.
Have a great Tuesday.

It’s getting to be quite big around here now too! Harriet, I try to comment back on your blog, but you don’t have the name/url option, and I don’t have any of the accounts needed to comment on your site!
Glad to hear you had a great Christmas. And texting is just one more reason why I tell my daughter that she did not get a cell phone for Christmas. She keeps insisting she wants one but I don’t think she knows what she will do with it.
The biggest reason for getting our son a phone is that he often has to stay after school for different clubs and such, this way he can text us when he’s reading to be picked up, and we can text him when we pull in. No more having to go have the school office page him for us. He’s wanted one since he was twelve, and we decided that that was way too young, he’ll be fifteen in just a few months. It also allows him to communicate with his father, without his father (my ex-husband) calling my cell phone, and asking to talk to him, anything that makes me have to talk to my ex less is definitely worth it!
That reminds me of that Glee episode with two girls talking to each other on their cell phone while walking next to each other, lol. It kind of makes it hard to decide whether technology simplifies or complicates… Hope you’re enjoying the season!

I believe it makes life a heck of a lot easier. If it weren’t for texting and cell phones, I fear I’d often be chasing my hubby out of the driveway because he forgot something. Now I can just text him and he can come back and get it. But I also love texting him grocery lists – he can’t claim that he couldn’t read my writing. Thanks for stopping by!
I don’t have a cell phone so I can’t relate. However my nieces and nephew do and they can’t live without texting.

Kids these days just seem to believe that everyone needs a cell phone, we have friends whom have bought their eight year olds cell phone – to me that’s way too young. But I know I couldn’t live without mine anymore – it’s so much more that a phone for me. I type most of my blog posts on it, it is my email, my organizer, my address book, my mp3 player, I even read e-books on it. Life would simply go haywire if I were to lose it – I wouldn’t know what’s going on in my own life without it. Thanks for stopping by!
Without the anticipation there isn’t really much to the gift thing. I like the anticipation the best!
I too like the anticipation the best – the actual day always seems a bit of a disappointment. But I also have problems keeping secrets, when I buy someone something I always want to give it to them immediately, or end up telling them what it is before hand. I’m simply horrible with secrets I guess. Thanks for stopping by!
Great content and very helpful thank and keep up the good work(????).
