Friday Fragments – The last of June

Friday Fragments is hosted by Mrs. 4444 @ Half-Past Kissin’ Time, so jump on over there and see what everyone else is up to!

I caught a few minutes of the Price is Right yesterday – are they making Drew Carey grow his hair into a Bob Barker style? It looks horrible!

My DH is home with a migraine… Poor him… I’m trying to keep the dogs and children quiet, but it’s a hard job!

We watched Marley and Me last night, it was pretty good, at least from the standpoint of someone whom has dogs that act a lot like that. But it was kind of sad, I’m glad my dogs are still young. It was one of the few movies that hubby and I didn’t discuss after we watched it, neither of us said a word we simply shut down the family room and went to the bedroom – but not before we each gave our three mutts a little extra loving.

After we finished watching the movie, we stayed up watching the raging thunderstorm that was hitting us. Lightning hit so close to the house a few times that you could actually hear it crackling. The torrential downpour really did a number of my garden. It pulled most of the peas off their string, and knocked down one set of stakes entirely. My spinach was beat nearly flat, and it knocked a few strawberries off their plants. But we really did need the rain, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.

The beast in my life has once again reared her ugly head. Yes, my mother-in-law is on the war path once again. She wants to keep our daughter next weekend, all weekend. The beast has never spent any time alone with my daughter since she was 6 months old. And then it was only for two hours, because after offering to babysit while we went out one night, she called us after only two hours and told us she couldn’t take it anymore. The baby hadn’t even cried! It was just the “stress of the whole ordeal” that had the old witch so upset. I seriously wonder how she managed to raise her own children? But now that my daughter is “old enough to take care of herself” (yes, those were my MIL’s own words about my SIX year old), she’d like to try and keep her for a weekend. Yeah right! I wouldn’t let the woman alone with my dogs, let alone my children!!!!

So what fragmented thoughts are floating around in your head today?

Oh, Marley & Me….so sad. Dogs are such a part of the fam. We lost our 5 year old Golden to cancer. Within 2 weeks of finding out he was sick, he was gone. It was devastating to lose such a young, healthy acting dog so early!

That’s so sad! I’m sorry about your loss! That scares me too, my boys are all between 18 months and three years old, I’m hoping they’re around for a looooong time to come!

I saw The Price is Right for the first time, and noticed Drew’s hair too. That is aweful! He’s soo funny, but the hair has got to go!!

Isn’t it horrible? It looks like he’s trying to imitate Bob Barker, when I think he could do much better, and look much better with his old haircut and his own personality. But then I’m sure my Gram would disagree, she always did have a crush on old Bob, and I always disliked him.

The hubs and I love to watch storms, and we’ve raised the kids to love (but respect) them, too. We love a good storm.

So, he doesn’t have a flattop anymore? Might have to check that out…

Yikes. That’s a tough one. So, how do you tell her no?

We just told her that our daughter had been invited elsewhere, and that we let her choose where she wanted to go and she chose the other party… I know, we’re horrible, but it is the truth too, we did let her choose.
